Sam Bush nominated for two IBMA Awards!
Aug 19, 2011
We know you share in the excitement of Sam's nominations for the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. Good luck, Sam!
"Thank you for your support on our two IBMA nominations," says Sam. "As a Kentuckian and bluegrass fan, it's especially thrilling to host and be nominated in the year of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. I'm excited to host the show at the Ryman. I know at some point that evening I'll look out and remember the night in 1964 I first heard Bill Monroe, and where I sat in the Ryman. While the evening is exciting for the nominees, presenters and performers, the fans are the true star of the show."
Sam is nominated for Instrumental Performer of the Year for the Mandolin, plus the Sam Bush Band is nominated for Instrumental Group of the Year.
At the press conference to announce the IBMA Award nominees, Sam stepped up to the podium to share the names of the two 2011 inductees to the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame: Del McCoury and George Shuffler. Bush said he was honored to call McCoury a friend as well as “the king of the high, lonesome sound of bluegrass.” Of Shuffler, he said, “It’s great that one of the innovators of bass and guitar” is being inducted.
Sam will be hosting the 22nd annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards Show on Thursday, September 29 at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
