The first round of artists were recently announced for the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) newly-named Wide Open Bluegrass Festival, to be held September 27 & 28 at the Raleigh, North Carolina Convention Center and Amphitheater. The two-day festival will take place during IBMA’s annual World of Bluegrass event, September 24-28.
Friday night’s performance from artists Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Béla Fleck, Allison Krauss, Del McCoury and Tony Rice offers a unique reunion of recipients of IBMA’s inaugural International Bluegrass Music Awards, presented in 1990—a group of artists whose names are synonymous not just with the best in today’s bluegrass, but with the most memorable acoustic music of any kind. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 15th for IBMA members and May 29th for the general public at worldofbluegrass.org.
