A great show and time Friday. Here's the link for an audience recording. As always, you aren't allowed to download this unless you already have tickets to the next Sam show within 2 hours of where you live (hey...we drove 3.5 hrs for this and it was worth it!).

So sorry to hear about Chris' mom. Our thoughts/prayers are with him and his family.
Is anyone from here heading to Chattanooga tomorrow? Susie and I are driving up and meeting Gregg for the show. Looking forward to it...haven't seen Sam and the guys since Newgrassfest.

I had heard of Sam Bushs music on "KET" a few years ago, and I was overwhemed with the sound, lyrics, and the passion with which the bands played. I picked up the new CD and one other ''late as usual" and listen to them often....now..the big news!.Just in the newspaper 2-17-10 there's an artcle about Sam and he's starting a new tour, first one in Frankfort ,Ky....right down the road...and hey..I was lucky enought to purchase 1 of 4 tickets left! Looking forward to this! Also my sympythy to the member and bands loved one who passed away recently. Dave

Just let me say this about Sam Bush TV. I love the interviews, and the music, ah, the music..."Souvenir Bottles" is just the latest example of how fabulously talented Sam and the band are. I'm sitting on my recliner, in my living room, rocking out. When artists can excite people vegging out on their couch, you know that they have "it"!! How do they do that? Thanks guys!!!!!

Love the new CD - bought it the first day it went on sale. Also, love the addition of SamTV!! A great gift to your fans. I will see you at Telluride - but that seems like such a long time to wait. Why is there never any love for Illinois. I know the majority of our state doesn't have the greatest of musical tastes, but I need a Sam fix!!! Please come to the midwest!

Sure wish I could get down to the beach this weekend. Unfortunately, that labral tear in my shoulder is scheduled to be repaired Friday.
But...we will be making the show in 'Nooga on 2/19!
Greetings from snowy Atlanta! Just saw you are going to be at Seaside next weekend. It sounds like a great event for songwriters and the fans. Wish we could make it. If you may recall, we met in 04 at the Little Feat Jamaica Fan Fest (at the airport in customs) and then in Boone at Appalachian State when Sam played with Doc Watson Both such memorable occasions for me. Hope you both had a blessed Christmas and New Year's. Would Sam be available to play our wedding this fall. We are looking at dates in September or October in metro Atlanta (Roswell, Alpharetta, or Atlanta). Please contact me via Facebook. God bless!

Happy NYE!
Ten years ago tonight, Sam, Cow, and Peter Rowan dropped in and played with Leftover Salmon in Denver, and what a show it was.
You can download it and hear for yourself right here:
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to Sam, Lynn and the Band. We miss seeing you here in Charlottesville VA and hope that you find your way to one of our many new music venues sometime soon. We used to look forward to your annual visits to Cville-will never forget your last visit to the Jefferson Theater, which has just re-opened as a totally restored new venue. Starr Hill has closed and we never missed your shows there either. We'd love to see you come back to the Jefferson and bring your newgrass back to Cville.

I just wanted to say, Merry Christmas to Sam, Lynn, Byron, Chris, Stephen, Scott, and to all their families. And to all the friends that I've made on this board, and to those I haven't met yet! God Bless us everyone!
"This one showed up in my mailbox one day a while back. Great sound and great performance by Sam and the guys (as always).
You may download this with two caveats - a) you MUST buy Sam's new CD, Circles Around Me; and b) you MUST go see Sam next time he's within two hours of where you live.
You are all on the honor system here...more to come.

Howdy Folks & Happy Holidays!
We had the good fortune to attend the Telluride Tennessee Benefit for Epilepsy Saturday night in Nashville. The sold out event was in a small theatre at Belmont University. It’s just the kind of place we love to see Sam perform. Perfect for an acoustic set and almost like being in someone’s living room. Emmylou praised her daughter Holly who organized the benefit. The players who joined her on stage included a couple of Nash Ramblers, Sam and Jon Randall Stewart, along with long time D.C. friends Mike Auldridge and John Starling. Byron House was on bass. Rob Stokes and Maple Burns put their special touch on everything which made for a great evening of music, memories and magic.
It was rather surreal to see Sam tethered to a stool and wearing funky footwear, but all that did not keep him from delivering some foot stomping music. In classic Emmylou style, she shared the spotlight with the other players as only the Queen of Country Music can do. The only song Sam did from Circles Around Me was the Ballad of Stringbean and Estelle. Later with Sam alone on stage he dedicated a classic Dylan tune to Lynn in commemoration of their 25th wedding anniversary. With a twinkle in his eye Sam began picking Let It Snow, eventually morphing into a heartfelt Girl From the North Country. Jon Randall Stewart sang a mournful Whiskey Lullaby along with another haunting song about death (whose title we did not know). Mike Auldridge did his Seldom Scene classic House of the Rising Sun/Walk Don’t Run. At Emmylou’s request John Starling sang the Graham Parsons Hour of Darkness. Sam put his signature style on every tune, whether playing fiddle or mandolin, while playing homage to John Duffy, Graham Parsons or even Stringbean. All in all it was a timeless two hours with a diverse set list.
We have a special place in our heart for Emmylou Harris since we met on a blind date in 1983 at a Hot Band era show at Bogart’s in Cincinnati. We so enjoyed hearing the early tunes. It was like a trip back in time to our youth when we were falling in love and finding the kind of music that would set the pace for the rhythm of our lives. To quote Sam, how in the world did we get this far?
Set List, 12.12.09

From Mr. Kenny Lee...
"Sam, John, and Curtis are up for another Newgrass Festival so we are now underway.
The date will be August 20, 21, 22/ 2010. The location will be the same..Ballance MotoX.
One difference, John will be the closing act on Friday. Sam will be the closing act on Saturday. John will be able to be there all 3 days this time so collaborative efforts are expected throughout.
The special early deal ticket link will go out to the ngfest email list very soon... after that.. we will update the website for 2010 .. www.newgrassfestival.com
This event is the premier Newgrass music showcase in the world.. featuring not only those who originated the artform but also...those who are taking it to the next level. Sam Bush was born and raised here.. the music began here .. many of us watched it happen and grow to the worldwide phenomenon it is today. We are excited and proud that our event features those who are recognized and awarded as among the finest musicians in the world. More news as the event grows..."
While part of me wants to scream "COME TO THIS!", part of me wants to say don't. The size of the crowd last year was ideal (from a fan's perspective). I brought my beautiful (and VERY tolerant) wife up for her birthday last year (it's on the 20th) and I'll be doing it again in 2010.
The only way it could be better would be for the Sam Bluegrass Band on Friday, the Sam Band on Saturday, and Duckbutter on Sunday.
Seriously, if you consider yourself a Sam or newgrass fan, this is the one festival that you'll want to hit next year...

I find it hard to believe that the good folks in Jackson Co., KY really espouse Stringbean was murdered there as "kycolo" suggests. While it's true Stringbean was born in Jackson Co., he lived and died, "On Ridge Top, TN in 1973" just like the lyrics state, where he and his wife Estelle lived for many years presumably to be close to the Ryman.
Sam
Awesome new CD, only one problem as a bluegrass state native as yourself, I was disappointed to hear for your Stringbean tribute song to attribute the setting in Tennessee of all places. I have been to the Stringbean memorial in Jackson Co (Gray Hawk) KENTUCKY and can feel Stringbean rolling over in his grave and feel certain the Akemon family will not invite Sam to their annual memorial bluegrass show when they hear mention of the Stingbeans murder taking place in TN. Shame on you, I guess Nashville is not that far from Bowling Green but come on I can't believe the meter wouldn't be the same with Cantuckee and Tennessee, oh well had to get that off my chest, hopefully you have your reasons.
