Sam Bush & the Sam Bush Band Nominated for 5 Combined IBMA Awards!

Aug 15, 2013

Nominees for the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced yesterday during a press conference at Nashville’s Loveless Barn, hosted by Sam Bush and Jim Lauderdale. After Sam and Jim kicked off the night's festivities with a performance of “Nashville Blues,” they revealed the nominees for this year's awards, including five combined nominations for Sam Bush and the Sam Bush Band.

Sam has been nominated once again for Instrumental Performer of the Year (mandolin) and Recorded Event for his collaboration on “What’ll I Do,” recorded by Terry Baucom with Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Wyatt Rice, Steve Bryant & Buddy Melton; produced by Terry Baucom, Cindy Baucom and Ed Lowe; John Boy & Billy label.

The Sam Bush Band has been nominated for Instrumental Group of the Year for the fourth consecutive year, and the band's own Scott Vestal and Stephen Mougin have also been nominated individually. Scott Vestal has been nominated for Instrumental Performer of the Year for the banjo, and Stephen Mougin has been nominated for the newly created Industry Momentum award in the mentor category. Congratulations, Scott and Stephen!

Following last night's IBMA press conference, the Sam Bush Band, featuring special guest guitarist and former band member Jon Randall Stewart, performed to a sold out house at Music City Roots. The Sam Bush Band set featured instrumental jams, a performance of "Song For Roy" (written by Sam Bush and Jon Randall Stewart) and closed with the up-tempo, "They're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" (written by Jeff Black).

The 24th Annual IBMA awards show will be held September 26th as the centerpiece of World of Bluegrass Week (#WOB13), to be held September 24th–28th in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Let's all give Sam Bush and the Sam Bush Band a much deserved round of applause. Good luck at this year's IBMA Awards!
